Photographs, especially of perpetually dark caves, don't begin with the click of the shutter – they begin weeks before, conjured up in the photographer's imagination. Before each photo trip, Neil plans what the goals of the shoot will be and what shots and lighting he needs to achieve them. Exploration poses another type of challenge – the unexpectable. As the team mood, the weather and new discoveries evolve, so too must the photographer’s plans and ideas. That's what Neil loves most about photography, the creative process, the challenge of photographing in adverse conditions and the chance to share those wild, inaccessible places with others in an artful and thought-provoking way.
